A car's interior collects grime that a vacuum alone never fully removes: dust worked into the fibres, salt residue from winter driving, fingerprints on high-touch surfaces, and odours that settle into the fabric. Chic Lave-Auto's interior car cleaning addresses these layers one at a time, by hand, using professional products chosen for each material.

This service is especially popular in spring, after a season of road salt and calcium on the South Shore, but also before a sale, at the end of a lease, or simply to bring a comfortable cabin back to a daily family vehicle.

Fabric versus leather: two different approaches

Fabric seats trap dust and odours inside their fibres. They're treated with shampooing followed by extraction, which pulls dirt out instead of just pushing it around on the surface.

Leather requires the opposite approach: a gentle clean with no aggressive scrubbing, followed by conditioning to prevent drying and cracking. We avoid products that leave a greasy or overly shiny finish, which is often what makes leather slippery.

Salt and calcium: the Quebec winter challenge

Carpets and the lower part of seats take the brunt of road salt and calcium tracked in on boots. These residues leave white rings and, over time, weaken the carpet fibres themselves.

Shampooing and extraction remove most of these stains. On very old or deeply set marks, a faint trace can remain, and we always flag that before starting the work.

Odours and disinfection of high-touch surfaces

A lingering smell rarely comes from a single source: damp carpets, food residue, seat fabric, and the ventilation system can all contribute. We treat the source rather than simply masking the odour with a scent.

The steering wheel, gear shifter, door handles, and touchscreen are disinfected at the end of the service, a step families and rideshare or work vehicles particularly appreciate.

  • Full vacuum of the cabin, trunk, and seat rails
  • Shampooing and extraction of carpets and fabric seats
  • Leather cleaning and conditioning
  • Disinfection of high-touch surfaces
  • Interior glass cleaning
  • Deodorizing and final inspection

Trunk, glass, and family vehicles

The trunk is often skipped during a quick wash, even though it collects sand, grocery bag residue, and pet hair. It's part of the standard service, along with interior glass, which frequently shows fingerprints and fog marks.

Family vehicles with car seats, food spills, or pet hair usually need a bit more time. We adjust the quote accordingly, with no surprises at the end.

Recommended frequency

For a daily-driven vehicle, a full interior cleaning two to three times a year is generally enough: once in spring after the salt season, and once before winter. Families with young children or pets often benefit from more frequent care.

Between full services, a quick vacuum and spot-cleaning of high-touch surfaces help the results last longer.

Recommended aftercare

  • Leave the doors slightly open for a few minutes after service to help fabrics finish drying.
  • Avoid eating in the vehicle for the first few days to extend the fresh result.
  • Vacuum up sand or salt as soon as you notice it rather than waiting for the next appointment.
  • For leather, light upkeep between full cleanings helps prevent drying.

“Excellent service! I had concrete and milk stains baked into the doors and roof of my car and everything was perfectly cleaned. The work was done with great care, even beyond what the service included. I recommend them 100%.”

Frequently asked questions

How long does an interior car cleaning take?
Usually a few hours, depending on the cabin's condition. You can drop the vehicle off and we'll call you as soon as it's ready.
Do you remove salt rings from carpets?
Yes, through shampooing and extraction. Very old stains may leave a faint residual mark, which we point out before starting.
Do you treat leather seats differently from fabric?
Yes. Leather is cleaned with a gentle product and then conditioned with no greasy finish, while fabric is shampooed and extracted.
How often should a full interior cleaning be done?
Two to three times a year is generally enough for normal daily use. Family vehicles with children or pets often benefit from more frequent care.
Is the trunk included in the service?
Yes, the trunk is vacuumed and cleaned along with the cabin, as is the interior glass.
Do you disinfect the vehicle?
High-touch surfaces such as the steering wheel, gear shifter, handles, and touchscreen are disinfected at the end of the service.
Does interior cleaning remove bad odours?
In most cases, yes, since we treat the source of the smell rather than masking it. Odours deeply set in the ventilation system may need extra treatment.
