The 5-year ceramic coating is the most durable option in our lineup. It suits owners who plan to keep their vehicle for the long haul, drivers without indoor parking, and anyone who logs a lot of highway kilometres on the A-30 or Route 132, where road salt and calcium build up fast every winter.
It isn't simply the same product applied in a thicker layer. The 5-year formulation is designed to hold its water-repelling and chemical resistance longer, which means the paint preparation beforehand has to be especially thorough.
Who is the 5-year coating for?
This coating works best on new or recent vehicles whose paint is still in good shape and that you want to protect from day one rather than correct later. It also suits owners who keep their car five years or more, since the cost per year of use becomes more favourable than renewing a shorter coating repeatedly.
Vehicles parked outdoors year-round, exposed to bird droppings, tree sap and UV rays constantly, also benefit from a longer-lasting coating since the intervals between full treatments stretch out.
How it differs from the 3-year coating
The difference isn't just the advertised duration. The 5-year formula generally lays down a denser layer, which requires a longer curing time in the shop before the vehicle is returned. The final gloss looks similar to the 3-year option, but resistance over time to washing, salt and UV exposure is higher.
Paint prep is also more demanding before a 5-year coating: decontamination and correction need to be nearly flawless, since any remaining flaw gets sealed in for a longer stretch. We always recommend an inspection under dedicated lighting before confirming the format.

Recommended annual upkeep
Even with a 5-year coating, an annual check-up at the shop is recommended to assess the coating's condition, remove accumulated contaminants and, if needed, top up the most exposed panels like the hood and front bumper.
Between visits, regular hand washing without automatic brush washes helps preserve the hydrophobic effect and gloss for the full advertised lifespan.
What a 5-year ceramic coating doesn't replace
A ceramic coating, regardless of the format, remains a thin chemical layer: it doesn't protect against stone chips or deep scratches from physical contact. For stronger impact resistance on specific zones, liquid PPF or a rigid film remain the right options.
A ceramic coating also doesn't remove the need for regular winter washing: it makes rinsing off salt and calcium easier, but it doesn't fully prevent them from building up on the body.
