The 5-year ceramic coating is the most durable option in our lineup. It suits owners who plan to keep their vehicle for the long haul, drivers without indoor parking, and anyone who logs a lot of highway kilometres on the A-30 or Route 132, where road salt and calcium build up fast every winter.

It isn't simply the same product applied in a thicker layer. The 5-year formulation is designed to hold its water-repelling and chemical resistance longer, which means the paint preparation beforehand has to be especially thorough.

Who is the 5-year coating for?

This coating works best on new or recent vehicles whose paint is still in good shape and that you want to protect from day one rather than correct later. It also suits owners who keep their car five years or more, since the cost per year of use becomes more favourable than renewing a shorter coating repeatedly.

Vehicles parked outdoors year-round, exposed to bird droppings, tree sap and UV rays constantly, also benefit from a longer-lasting coating since the intervals between full treatments stretch out.

How it differs from the 3-year coating

The difference isn't just the advertised duration. The 5-year formula generally lays down a denser layer, which requires a longer curing time in the shop before the vehicle is returned. The final gloss looks similar to the 3-year option, but resistance over time to washing, salt and UV exposure is higher.

Paint prep is also more demanding before a 5-year coating: decontamination and correction need to be nearly flawless, since any remaining flaw gets sealed in for a longer stretch. We always recommend an inspection under dedicated lighting before confirming the format.

  • Longer advertised durability than the 3-year format
  • Generally denser layer, longer curing time
  • Stricter paint preparation required before application
  • Better cost-per-year for vehicles kept long-term

Recommended annual upkeep

Even with a 5-year coating, an annual check-up at the shop is recommended to assess the coating's condition, remove accumulated contaminants and, if needed, top up the most exposed panels like the hood and front bumper.

Between visits, regular hand washing without automatic brush washes helps preserve the hydrophobic effect and gloss for the full advertised lifespan.

What a 5-year ceramic coating doesn't replace

A ceramic coating, regardless of the format, remains a thin chemical layer: it doesn't protect against stone chips or deep scratches from physical contact. For stronger impact resistance on specific zones, liquid PPF or a rigid film remain the right options.

A ceramic coating also doesn't remove the need for regular winter washing: it makes rinsing off salt and calcium easier, but it doesn't fully prevent them from building up on the body.

Why preparation matters as much as the product

The quality of a 5-year ceramic coating depends as much on preparation as on the product itself. Incomplete decontamination or a rushed paint correction beforehand means any flaw gets sealed under the coating for years, most visible in direct sunlight.

That's why every 5-year coating starts with an honest evaluation: if the paint needs more correction than expected, we discuss it before confirming the final price.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Evaluation

Inspection under dedicated lighting and recommendation on the right format.

  2. Step 2

    Decontamination

Removal of ferrous particles, tree sap and industrial residue.

  3. Step 3

    Correction

Polishing to eliminate defects before long-term sealing.

  4. Step 4

    Application

Hand-applied 5-year ceramic coating, panel by panel.

  5. Step 5

    Curing

Controlled drying time in the shop before the vehicle is returned.

Recommended aftercare

  • Wait through the recommended curing time before the first wash.
  • Favour hand washing; avoid automatic brush washes.
  • Rinse off salt and calcium as soon as possible after winter drives.
  • Plan an annual shop check-up to assess the coating's condition.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 5-year ceramic coating worth the extra cost?
For a vehicle kept long-term or parked outdoors, the cost per year is often more favourable than renewing a shorter coating. For a vehicle resold quickly, the 3-year format may be enough.
Can I go straight to the 5-year format without having had a coating before?
Yes, what matters is the current condition of the paint, not the vehicle's history. An evaluation determines whether correction is needed before application.
Does the 5-year format need different upkeep than the 3-year one?
Basic upkeep is the same: hand washing and regular winter rinsing. An annual shop check-up is recommended for both formats.
How long does the 5-year coating application take?
It usually takes a full day at the shop, including preparation and curing time, depending on the paint's initial condition.
Does the 5-year ceramic protect against stone chips?
No. It's a thin chemical protection, not a physical barrier. For impacts, liquid PPF or a rigid film are more appropriate.
Does the paint need to be polished before a 5-year coating?
Almost always, unless the vehicle is new and in excellent condition. The coating seals in the current state of the paint for years, so visible flaws need correcting first.
